This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Chicago-based art fair SOFA CHICAGO. Kirsten Muenster Projects will present works from leading national and international artists working in wood, fiber, metal and fine jewelry.

This exhibition tells the story of the incredible journey of wood art over the past 25 years. David Huang will consider his exploration of form, design and patina as his body of work has developed over the years. Huang’s metal vessels showcase skilled craftsmanship and explore the physicality of the material world.

Betty Scarpino will breakdown the symbolic, abstract, and metaphorical meanings embedded in her sculptures.

Contemporary Wood: State of the Art
Online Exhibition - June 11 - August 6, 2017

The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts is working with select galleries to present an online exhibition featuring contemporary artists working in wood. The exhibition is being curated by Kevin Wallace, Director of the Center, who is taking the opportunity to consider the current state of contemporary wood art, sharing outstanding works by both emerging and established artists.

BioDiversity: Celebrating the Natural World
April 15 - May 27

The Beatrice Wood Center for the Arts is working with select galleries to present an online exhibition, featuring contemporary artists working in all media who celebrate the natural world in their work. As an activity of the Happy Valley Foundation, the Center is presenting this exhibition as a means of sharing the Foundation's guiding principles of protecting the environment, while celebrating the natural value of diversity in all spheres of life.

Wood artists Pascal Oudet and Christian Burchard share their intuitive approach to working harmoniously with the inherent structure of the material – and how their fascination with the unpredictable nature of unusual and unstable woods results in works that tell the story of the trees from which they came.
