I create elegant metal wall pieces for domestic, corporate and public spaces. I fell in love with etching, and the magic of capturing images on the surface of metal 14 years ago whilst studying metalworking. Since then I've used etching, alongside an ever growing palette of metal colouring and finishing techniques to find new ways to work with images in a variety of metals, including copper, brass, zinc and gilding metal.
My starting point in developing a new body of work is to use drawing, printmaking and photography to explore a particular theme or place. The imagery on the surface of the metal is sometimes ambiguous, or else uses visual cues to create subtle narratives, leaving the viewer open to interpret the piece. The site specific pieces use more recognizable imagery, which connect to a particular place. My influences range from aerial views of the rural landscape, detailing the patterns of hedgerows in farmland, to the weathered and time- worn surfaces of buildings.
My influences include both the built environment and the natural landscape. I use drawing, print- making and photography as a starting point to investigate particular themes or subjects. I enjoy working to commission with a diverse range of clients, to create bespoke and meaningful artworks for private interiors, corporate spaces, super yachts, hotels, schools, museums and architectural facades.
